Sunrise Visitation Policy 2.18.2021

February 18, 2021

Dear family and friends of Sunrise:

Sunrise is able to offer expanded visiting options for our residents and families beginning February 22, as it has been more than 14 days since we last reported a COVID positive resident AND the COVID positivity rate in Woodbury County has dropped below 10%.

In order for Sunrise to conduct visiting, we must be sure all visitors are adhering to the Core Principles of COVID-19 Infection Prevention, as noted in the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ regulation (listed in QSO-20-39-NH https://www.cms.gov/files/document/qso-20-39-nh.pdf).  These principles are incorporated into the policy that Sunrise has developed below.  We ask for our visitor’s active participation with the policy so that we are able to provide our all of our residents with this life enriching opportunity.

SUNRISE VISITING POLICY (NURSING FACILITY)

  • Visiting will be by appointment only, including for compassionate care visits.  Dates for regular visits will be determined by neighborhood:
    • Applewood and Bernstein will have visits scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays
    • Evergreen and Sunlight will have visits scheduled for Wednesdays and Fridays
  • Visitors will be required to test on MONDAYS if they plan to visit during the week
    • Testing will be from 3-6pm at the Gerwulf Center
  • Visitors will be required to check in and out at the front desk, answer screening questions and have their temperature recorded, and perform hand hygiene prior to entering the resident’s neighborhood
  • Visitors will be limited to 2 per family per week (to limit the use of testing supplies) and will be required to be over age 13
  • Visitors will be required to wear face masks at all times during their visit, wear a face shield upon entering the nursing neighborhood, and maintain social distancing
  • Visitors will be required to stay in the resident’s room during their visit and will not be allowed to move about the neighborhood

VISITING PLANS FOR FOUNTAIN VIEW ASSISTED LIVING

The Visiting Plan for Fountain View Assisted Living will be similar to that of the nursing facility (above).

  • Visits will be by appointment only, including compassionate care visits.  Appointments will be made for Tuesday through Friday.
  • Visitors will be required to test if plan to visit at all during the week.  Testing will occur on Mondays at the Gerwulf Center from 3-6pm.
  • Visitors will be required to check in and out, wear appropriate PPE (masks) and perform hand hygiene as required, and maintain social distancing
  • Visitors will be limited to 2 per family per week (to limit the use of testing supplies) and will be required to be over age 13
  • Visitors will be required to stay in the resident’s room during their visit and will not be allowed to move about the neighborhood

Appointments can be made with the Activities Department by calling 276-3821 x3130.  If you have questions about this plan, please feel free to call.  There will be an opportunity to schedule visits for the upcoming week at the testing site on Mondays as well.

We appreciate our guest’s willingness to follow the policies set forth above, and please understand that this is a work in progress for us.  The Activity department is working to begin providing small group activities for the nursing residents (which has not been done for some time) and the schedule that has been created for visiting is meant to allow for time for activities and visiting.  If we identify something that is not working well or find that we need to adjust the plan, we will notify guests as soon as we are able.

As always, we appreciate your help in making this plan work!  Please remember, if you are planning to visit, our residents are the most vulnerable in the community to the ill effects of COVID-19 and any new cases will cause us to revert back to more restrictive rules.  Regardless of the guidelines issued for other buildings, stores or restaurants in the area, we would appreciate your cooperation in maintaining safe behavior (mask wearing, social distancing, etc).  Please don’t come for a visit if you are having any signs of illness, regardless of the cause.  It is for the safety of our residents!

We look forward to seeing you at Sunrise,

Hallie Salmen, CEO
