Sunrise is the only community based not-for-profit retirement community in the Siouxland area. At Sunrise Retirement, we are proud of our Resident-Centered Care Philosophy. We strive to be more inviting (and less institutional) in today’s world of senior care.

Employee Benefits

  • Paid Time Off (PTO)

    Our PTO package is one of the best in the area. Your first year of employment you will receive 19 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) to use for personal and sick days. The amount of PTO you receive increases each year and you’ll have the ability to earn up to 39 days per year and bank up to 9 weeks of PTO!

  • Insurance

    We offer affordable dental, vision and health insurance after 60 days of employment to our part-time and full-time employees. Sunrise also pays for your life and disability insurance after one year of employment.

  • Holidays

    We offer 6 paid holidays per year for full-time employees. You will receive double time for working holidays, and if you have the holiday scheduled off, you will receive 8 hours of paid Holiday time while you have the day off!

  • Continuing Education

    Sunrise offers free CEU’s for Nursing staff and we will pay you while you complete them. We also offer generous scholarship and tuition assistance opportunities for nursing students.

  • Tuition Assistance Program

    Western Iowa Tech Community College
    Sunrise Retirement Community desires to provide financial assistance in the form of a loan to Nursing Education students at Western Iowa Tech, if interested in pursuing a furtherance of your education, please contact your Supervisor, Human Resource Director or the Administrator.

  • Scholarship Programs

    Western Iowa Tech Community College - Vera Cowling Educational Scholarship Program
    PURPOSE: To annually designate up to a $500.00 scholarship fund to be used for the personal educational growth of Sunrise Retirement staff. The discretion as to whether the amount will be a single gift or dispersed to more than one recipient shall be determined by the Sunrise Personnel Committee.

    Briar Cliff University - Dr. Carolyn Leman Leadership in Nursing Scholarship
    Thanks to a gift by long time Board member, Dr. Carolyn Leman, Sunrise Retirement Community employees are eligible to apply for a scholarship to Briar Cliff University to continue their nursing education. Interested employees may obtain an application from either the Human Resource Director at Sunrise or the Director of Financial Aid at BCU. The application deadline is April 1. Applicants should have at least one year of work history at Sunrise. The first preference for the scholarship is given to a current nurse who is pursuing a bachelor’s, masters or doctorate in nursing. Second preference is given to a nursing assistant at Sunrise who is pursuing a bachelor’s in nursing. A qualified recipient may be either full or part time, but must maintain a 2.5 GPA. Recipients of the scholarship must continue to be employed at Sunrise while receiving the scholarship plus two years after receiving their degree. If a recipient does not complete the work requirements, the scholarship fund will need to be reimbursed by the recipient at a prorated amount received to work time completed.
