Sunrise Retirement Community Joins the Global #GivingTuesday Movement

November 22, 2017

Sioux City—Sunrise Retirement Community has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. As a not-for-profit senior care community, Sunrise lives its mission to the fullest through providing benevolent care (charity care) for residents that have exhausted their personal resources. Through the years Sunrise has provided millions of dollars of benevolent care. In 2016 alone, Sunrise provided $762,470 in benevolent care and unreimbursed Medicaid and Medicare services.

This year’s #GivingTuesday falls on November 28th, which is the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. The widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday kick-off the holiday shopping season. #GivingTuesday offers an opportunity to those within our community to give back to the charities they support and make an impact this holiday season.

“As a community-based not-for-profit, we hope #GivingTuesday will attract donors of all ages to give the light of love to those who need it most…our residents,” shares Lorrie Stedman, Director of Fund Development, “It could be the best Christmas gift of all.”

Please consider supporting Sunrise Retirement’s Benevolent Care fund this giving season and participate in #GivingTuesday. You can visit our website at: www.sunriseretirement.com/donations/ to make a gift. Thank you for being a part of this global day of giving.
