Sioux City – Sunrise Retirement Community recently achieved a Five-Star Rating by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the federal agency responsible for overseeing quality in nursing facilities. “We are excited to announce that we have earned an overall rating of five stars, as it is something we’ve been working on for almost two years,” said Hallie Salmen, Sunrise Executive Director. The CMS overall rating is generated from an average of three components—survey results, quality measures and staffing levels. With a five star rating, Sunrise is considered to have ‘much above average’ quality. “This designation is a credit to our dedicated staff team who always put our residents first,” commented Chris Schenkelberg, Administrator and 22 year veteran of Sunrise.
