Stay on Your Feet by Working on Balance

June 12, 2020

Stay on your feet by working on balance, strength and flexibility. One in four people over 65 years and older will fall. Falls are the leading cause of injuries and result in serious injuries which decrease mobility and loss of independence.

Exercise is proven to help prevent falls. Keep an exercise routine during the summer and winter months. Exercise improves endurance, muscle strength and flexibility.

If you are not sure of what exercises to do…

  • Consider walking, climbing stairs or using a weight machine to build muscles.
  • Stretching muscles and joints to improve balance.
  • Consider yoga to strengthen muscles and increase balance.
  • Try Tai Chi for strength and balance.

Our Sunrise Retirement Community offers a great program on stretching, balance, and strengthening.
