Letter to Residents & Families 8.16.2021

August 18, 2021

Dear Sunrise residents, family and friends,

This letter is to report on COVID positive residents and/or staff at Sunrise Retirement Community.

Sunrise is currently conducting “outbreak” testing due to having reported COVID positive staff members periodically over the past couple of weeks.  Yesterday, Sunrise identified 1 staff member who was positive for COVID 19 and recently worked in the nursing facility.  Sunrise currently has 2 staff members who is quarantining at home.

Residents were all tested today and we currently have 0 residents who are COVID positive or required to be in isolation for a COVID positive diagnosis.

This does leave Sunrise in an “outbreak” status for at least the next 14 days.  However, with the current visitation guidance, we will not need to alter our visiting plans unless we have positive resident cases.  Staff continue monitoring residents for any signs or symptoms of illness twice daily.

Other mitigation efforts in both nursing & assisted living include staff screening at the beginning and end of shift for exposure, symptoms and temperature; wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE); increased cleaning & disinfecting of surfaces throughout the building; and regular COVID surveillance testing of staff members and residents.

We are working closely with our local public health department, the Iowa Department of Public Health, and our medical director and following their recommendations.  We are notifying our constituents and all regulatory bodies necessary to keep them informed about this current situation as required.

Sincerely,

Hallie Salmen, CEO
