Letter to Residents & Families 7.29.2021

July 30, 2021

Dear Sunrise residents, family and friends,

Today Sunrise was notified that a staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. The individual was in the nursing facility and independent living on Monday 7/26/21. The individual is fully vaccinated. Residents or staff that may have had direct contact with the positive case have been notified.

We conducted “outbreak” testing today in the nursing facility, which means that we have tested all residents in the nursing facility. No residents tested positive today and we will test again every 3-4 days for the next 14 days, until no new positive cases are identified.

We currently only have 1 confirmed positive staff member, who is isolating at home.

This does put Sunrise back into an “outbreak” status for at least the next 14 days. However, with the current visitation guidance, we will not need to alter our visiting plans unless we have positive resident cases. As of today, there are no nursing residents in isolation for COVID-19. Staff continue monitoring residents for any signs or symptoms of illness on each shift (3 times per day).

Other mitigation efforts in both nursing & assisted living include staff screening at the beginning and end of shift for exposure, symptoms and temperature; wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE); increased cleaning & disinfecting of surfaces throughout the building; and regular COVID surveillance testing of staff members and residents.

We are working closely with our local public health department, the Iowa Department of Public Health, and our medical director and following their recommendations. We are notifying our constituents and all regulatory bodies necessary to keep them informed about this current situation as required.

Sincerely,

Hallie Salmen, CEO
