Letter to Residents & Families 4.28.2020

April 28, 2020

April 28, 2020

Dear Sunrise Residents, Families & Friends,

I would like to take a minute to update each of you how we are doing here at Sunrise as we enter our eighth week of protective measures in the fight against COVID-19.

We continue to follow all guidance given by our regulatory bodies, including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Center for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS), Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH), Department of Inspections & Appeals (DIA) and Siouxland District Health.  We are also closely in touch with the leaders of our long-term care association – Leading Age Iowa and the national association to help us as we navigate these new & unfamiliar situations.

As of today our local community is in the surge for COVID-19.  We continue to monitor the health of all our residents and staff – residents are assessed every shift and staff are monitored at the beginning and end of each of their shifts.  Staff members are encouraged to be careful of where they are going in public and stay home if they do not feel well.  Residents are closely monitored for any changes in their condition.

Last week I noted that there was a staff member who had been diagnosed but had not been in the facility recently.  That staff member continues to be quarantined at home.  As of today, no other staff members or residents have been suspected or diagnosed with COVID-19.  We are aware that with the rapidly changing situation in the tri-state area that could change and will continue to honor our promise to keep our residents and families informed of changes in that situation.

Please continue to pray for the health and safety of all of our residents and staff and we look forward to a time when we will have the chance to be together again!

Sincerely,

Hallie Salmen, CEO
